We are seeking a high-caliber legal researcher to support our complex appellate and postconviction work. This fully remote role requires a disciplined self-starter capable of managing a rigorous workload independently. The successful candidate will navigate the dense procedural requirements of the UK Court of Appeal and US State/Federal postconviction systems.

Key Responsibilities

Transatlantic Jurisprudential Analysis: Conduct exhaustive research into UK extradition bars (e.g., Forum Bar, Article 3) and US postconviction relief statutes (PCR).
Transcript Scrutiny & Ground Identification: Forensically review trial transcripts and prior appellate briefs to identify Ineffective Assistance of Counsel (IAC) claims or undisclosed Brady violations in US cases.
Procedural Navigation: Analyze §2254 Federal Habeas petitions, focusing on AEDPA compliance, exhaustion of state remedies, and “actual innocence” gateways.
Strategic Briefing: Produce comprehensive internal memoranda synthesizing complex legal precedents into actionable strategies for the Director and our clients.

Key Requirements

Technical Proficiency: Highly computer literate with experience in legal databases and remote collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom).
Independent Research: Proven ability to manage research projects autonomously and meet strict deadlines.
Analytical Rigor: Strong attention to detail and the capacity to navigate complex procedural rules across multiple jurisdictions.
